House of Angels Renaissance Projects Mission is to save these buildings , finding a purposeful re-use of these beautiful historical structure(s). This will be done by converting them into Museums/ Fresco & Art Gallery's, Venues, Schools, and Community spaces. Done to demonstrate the benefits of historical preservation, bringing purposeful attention to declining neighborhoods. It is our intent to have these structures listed on the Historical Register.
Sacred Heart - While the saving of the building is the priority, we hope to design a destination in Cohoes by creating one of the largest fresco projects in the United States. The goal is to have Master fresco artists from Italy, Russia, and the United States participate in the creation of cross cultural angels painted in the ancient technique of Buon Fresco on the ceilings and walls of this historical building in Cohoes . It is our desire to hold classes, which will educate and encourage the use of plaster in today’s building process.
St Mary's - The objective is very similar to Cohoes in the saving of the building and to preserve, promote, educate, and teach the classical arts: In Renaissance Style, to do that which will elevate and propel mankind forward. To promote the saving and re-purpose of historical structures, by teaching classes in historical restoration. Our long term plan is to incorporate Solar installations, and possible training into the programs. The renovated kitchen will be available as a Food Incubator, and possibly senior events.
Both school applications will be available to the general public and collegiate institutions. It is our intent to fully pursue programs to teach and engage under privileged children in various arts and educational projects. Exceptional works created by proficient students will be available for display in the Gallery;s/ Museum or in Art Shows. Working closely with the cities, it is our desire to create exceptional spaces, for the local and extended communities. To engage the community, in art based projects and events.
As previously stated.....House of Angels Renaissance Projects Mission is to save these structure(s) by finding an Adaptive reuse for these beautiful Historic structures. This will be done. by converting them into Museums/ Fresco /Art Gallery's, and Schools, etc. to demonstrate the benefits of historical preservation, bringing purposeful attention to declining neighborhoods. In continuation of our original mission, the HOA will work closely with the City of Schenectady and Metroplex to further develop the St Mary's Campus with the purchase of the Convent and School in a two phase project. HOA will be applying to SHPO to receive Historical Registry for the campus. The HOA will also work with Better Neighborhoods, Inc. and Bethesda House in an effort to restore and convert the Convent into Veterans Transitional Apartment Services. The Vision is extensive, incorporating several community needs into one "project".
Initial discussions for Phase 1 includes:
1.) Renovation of the Convent, creating a communal living environment for transitioning Veterans.
2.) Incorporating Veterans housing with the extensive Programs offered by Bethesda House
3.) Use of the newly renovated Kitchen in the Renaissance Hall, for a Food Incubator, teaching facility with the possibility of incorporating Senior Meals.
4.) The possibility of acquiring additional space for a "workable garden"... (with possibly a greenhouse)
5.) Potential to work with Seat Center to create a "Solar" Teaching program for displaced Veterans.
Open to the Public, the museums/schools will be available to rent for special events, fund raisers and Community based functions. Working closely with the Cities, it our desire to create exceptional spaces, for the local and extended communities.
